Good Old Fashioned Family Fun

Poppa Mike, Grandma Jo, and Uncle Eric came over this last Sunday to hang out and bring the kids a special gift they had all worked on. So they got here and we visited for a bit while I got Ally ready to go in the pool. Then they were so antsy we decided to go out so they could give them their special gift. SO we go out and get set up so we can all see what is about to unveiled. Uncle Eric opens the trunk of the car.....TA DA! It is a small kids size wooden bench and it is absolutely beautiful. They had found it at a garage sale and it has been painted and was really dirty. So they proceeded to take all the wood off and dad replaced it with really nice wood that he had at home. It has been stained with a water tight seal and the arms had been scoured and repainted....all by the hard work of my family! It is also strong enough to hold a grown adult!!!! So we take it inside and finish getting ready to go out and play in the pool. After getting Dylan ready for the pool, out we go! Little did we know that it wasn't just going to be Dylan and Ally getting in!!!! We proceed to all get pretty wet and Poppa even gets in the pool with the kids! After running around and playing outside for awhile we all get dried off and go inside to hang out and have fun. We all got to have some sherbet. Ally didn't really care for it and Dylan kinda liked it, he would take a bite and make a really sour face, but he would eat it all!!! Apparently it was funny face making night. Here is some of the fun we had...
After going nuts for awhile it is finally time for bed.....thanks for some Good Old Fashioned Family Fun y'all!

Just the Love of My Children.....

These pictures just had to be shared....This is what makes life worth living.....unconditional love.....

50 and Fabulous!!!!!

This last Saturday we got to celebrate a momentous event. My beautiful mother turned 50! Wow! It is hitting me in waves probably cause I was running around all last week getting things ready for the party. The party was great too, if I do say so myself. We just did a cake and ice cream social for friends to come and express their greetings or condolences whatever the case may be! My kids were all over Grandma Jo, especially after they finished their cake and she had hers to eat still. After finishing her cake we moved her onto her presents. She got a great assortment of cards and gifts from her family and friends. The highlight though would have to be the color her face turned when she saw the special gift I got her. It was a thong....one that said "You are 50" then goes on the list how many hours, days, seconds, etc. She turned purple red! We wrapped the day up and after cleaning up we went our to Red Robin to have a nice family dinner. But I will leave you with this....My mom may be 50 but she is still the most fabulous woman out there!!!

Zoo trip revisited.....

We went to the zoo this month as well as last and pretty much everything stayed the same....one this was different though...it was HOT HOT HOT! But we had a good time we met up with tons of friends for lunch and were able to kick back and relax...one piece of advice though...don't waste your 4 bucks on the Dinosaur walk through....it should be free! Oh well here is a small sampling of pictures from the day and if you want to read a blow by blow zoo trip read the previous blog on the zoo trip!

4th of July BBQ

For the 4th my sister-in-law Kaydi invited us over for a BBQ and time to relax and let the kids run and play. We were treated to a huge spread of food: Burgers or Dogs, Baked Potato, Salad, Chips, and Beans....as well as drinks! Wow were we spoiled! After eating and feeding the persnickety children we were able to sit back and relax and enjoy the night....mostly. The kids were playing and hanging out then all of a sudden Grace comes running over and crying....and whether intentional or not Ally had poked Grace in the eye with a stick. So now I am in a bit of a panic because you see we were doing family pictures the next day and if there was any permanent mark it would be bad! Luckily it seemed to be fine and as a side note was back to normal by the next morning. The height of excitement for the night came from Uncle Nate. He has developed a way to keep kids entertained for hours! All you do is take a bouncy ball and throw it on the roof and let it roll off....over and over and over and over and over and over....you get the idea! This was just a blast for all 3 bigger kids, Jude wasn't so interested but he is a little guy still! Around 8:30 we decided to go do the 5 fireworks or so that we got. The kids were so into the sparklers and each got to do 3 or 4. This is when the dud comes in. We had bought some tanks and some firecracker like things that smoked also. Well between the breeze that night, an unhappy lighter and a couple of dud fireworks we were done! Oh well by this point kids were unraveling in a hurry it was time to get a move on and get home to bed! Until next year!
