For the 4th my sister-in-law Kaydi invited us over for a BBQ and time to relax and let the kids run and play. We were treated to a huge spread of food: Burgers or Dogs, Baked Potato, Salad, Chips, and Beans....as well as drinks! Wow were we spoiled! After eating and feeding the persnickety children we were able to sit back and relax and enjoy the night....mostly. The kids were playing and hanging out then all of a sudden Grace comes running over and crying....and whether intentional or not Ally had poked Grace in the eye with a stick. So now I am in a bit of a panic because you see we were doing family pictures the next day and if there was any permanent mark it would be bad! Luckily it seemed to be fine and as a side note was back to normal by the next morning. The height of excitement for the night came from Uncle Nate. He has developed a way to keep kids entertained for hours! All you do is take a bouncy ball and throw it on the roof and let it roll off....over and over and over and over and over and over....you get the idea! This was just a blast for all 3 bigger kids, Jude wasn't so interested but he is a little guy still! Around 8:30 we decided to go do the 5 fireworks or so that we got. The kids were so into the sparklers and each got to do 3 or 4. This is when the dud comes in. We had bought some tanks and some firecracker like things that smoked also. Well between the breeze that night, an unhappy lighter and a couple of dud fireworks we were done! Oh well by this point kids were unraveling in a hurry it was time to get a move on and get home to bed! Until next year!
