A Family Vacation to the Beach!

After packing the majority of our stuff on Monday night, we finish loading up on Tuesday morning and are on our way around 9:30. After a pit stop in Philomath for the potty we are on our way again. Something about getting older is causing me to get car sick....but I made it ok and was relieved when we parked at the beach for lunch. After some PB&J's and turkey sandwiches, we bundled up a little and climbed over the small dune and onto the beach! After taking our flip flops off we ran, played, wrote in the sand, and climbed on driftwood. We were making our way down the beach to walk on the jetty. As we got closer we slipped our flip flops back on and made our way up the dune to walk down the jetty. I made it a little way flip flops are not so comfortable on the rocks, so Ally and I sat on some rocks and watched as Daddy and Dylan walked down to about halfway down the jetty. They made their way back but then Dylan wanted to walk back down the jetty so Daddy took him on another walk down and Ally and I went down to put our feet in the water and look for rocks. I got to talk to a woman from Maine while I was hanging out, she was so upset about the deforestation going on in our state....and that is about all I remember from our 15 minute conversation....Moving on. Dylan finally gets tired of being up on the jetty and so he and Daddy make their way down to hang out at the base of the jetty and relax for awhile. The kids were playing in the sand burying their legs and laying in the sand relaxing. Daddy was enjoying relaxing too! I made Darrin take a picture of me sitting up on the rocks and he thought it would be funny to get a picture of me trying to get down and almost biffing it! After relaxing for awhile we make our way back down the beach to go to the car for a snack and to get our chairs and sand castle making equipment. After a quick snack we climb our way back over the dune find a nice little place and commence building our sand castle. We made a fabulous castle and then the kids smashed it, built a few more which were also smashed and then decided it was time to head on to find dinner and go to our Kabin at the KOA. So off we head into Waldport which is a one stop light town and are finding nothing to eat until the last left turn we see a little restaurant....thank goodness between a cranky wife and two cranky kids we were ready to eat! After a quick dinner we make our way back across the bridge to the KOA to check in and unload so we can get cleaned up and go to bed! After a mix up at check in we finally have our key and while Darrin watches the kids play I unload and get all the beds made and ready and bring in all of our bags. Finally get all cleaned up and get tucked in for bed, although it took about an hour for us to all get to sleep. One fitful nights sleep later we are up and having cereal for breakfast. And then getting ready to head off to the aquarium for the day. Finally everyone is happy fed and ready to go and so we are off! We get to the aquarium right when it opens and spend the morning wandering around looking at all the animals that we can see

also getting to see a couple of feedings.

And after the sea lions get fed they were walking back and forth to the door barking like crazy...which amused Dylan to no end! He was practicing making a sea lion bark for a bit after that. We make our way through the passages of the deep

but the kids were getting hungry and so we make our way to the cafe for lunch. After a yummy lunch we go back and let the kids play on the "playground"
for a little bit then wrap back around through the passages of the deep and around to see everything one more time. By this point everyone was so tuckered we decided to head back. After dinner of leftovers and sandwiches Darrin is feeling pretty tired so I take the kids to get some ice cream and discover the place we go rents DVD's. So we decide to rent Chicken Little and go back to the Kabin and watch it to wind down for bed. The kids really liked it but they didn't wind down as well as I was hoping for. So finally they start to calm down and we get to sleep. They actually slept in a little and after waking up and packing up we decide to swing by the tide pools to check them out before heading back towards the home front!

Wow how cool were they! We could only go on half of them though because there was a seal pup on the beach waiting for him mom to come back and bring him some food! I said to Dylan, "Look at the baby seal!" And he replies, "Its a
pup."
Kids are amazing.....Anyways after taking lots of pictures we make our way back up the stairs to look over the cliffs and look at the lighthouse.
Then we make some lunch and get the kids hooked in and settled with food and are on our way back home to our home sweet home and our VERY comfortable beds!!!
